Join our Visy Paper Mill team in Smithfield, one of five Visy Recycle Pulp & Paper mills located across Australia.

About the role

As a Paper Mill Operator, you will play a crucial role in the production process, ensuring the efficient operation of our paper manufacturing equipment.  This position involves working on a rotating 12-hour shift roster to support continuous 24/7 operations.

Duties

Reporting to the Shift Foreman, key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Operate and monitor paper manufacturing machinery, including but not limited to pulping, refining, forming, pressing, drying, and finishing equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates smoothly and safely.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Monitor process parameters and adjust settings as necessary to meet quality standards and production targets.
  • Maintain accurate production records and report any abnormalities or incidents to the appropriate personnel.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience troubleshooting machine or equipment issues
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including manual handling which will be performed during shift work
  • Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
