About the role:
Visy Logistics is expanding rapidly as we grow our national construction and steel logistics capability. To support this next phase, we are seeking a hands‑on Fleet Manager to lead the daily execution of subcontractor fleet operations nationally, while operating from our customer’s Rooty Hill site.
Embedded within our customer’s operations, this frontline leadership role oversees planning, allocation and supervision of a large subcontractor driver group. You’ll be central to the safe and efficient movement of steel products across multiple collection and delivery points nationwide – ensuring compliance, reliability, DIFOT performance and strong customer outcomes

What you’ll do:
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Lead daily subcontractor fleet operations, ensuring safe work practices and full compliance with site and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and allocate fleet movements to meet delivery schedules and DIFOT expectations nationally.
- Oversee load planning, load restraint standards and quality execution across steel movements
- Supervise and support subcontractor drivers, ensuring strong communication and performance accountability
- Manage subcontractor onboarding, compliance documentation and operational record keeping
- Monitor fleet utilization, equipment readiness and operational efficiency
- Support incident reporting, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build strong working relationships with customers, site teams and subcontractors.
What you’ll bring:
You’re a safety‑driven operations professional with experience in transport or fleet supervision. You work confidently in fast‑paced environments and bring strong people skills and operational discipline. You excel in KPI‑driven, compliance‑focused settings, reliable, detail‑minded and consistent in delivering results at site level while supporting national performance.
You’ll also bring:
- 5+ years’ transport operations experience (steel/construction preferred) with strong subcontractor supervision skills.
- Deep understanding of safety, CoR, fatigue and load restraint requirements.
- Proven ability to manage, interpret, and report on P&L performance, including identifying key cost and revenue levers to drive commercial outcomes.
- Strong commercial mindset with capability to optimise fleet utilisation, control overtime exposure, and balance operational efficiency with customer requirements.
- Confident using TMS/compliance systems, with good knowledge of transport equipment (PBS/HC/MC a bonus).
- Clear communicator with strong stakeholder skills, high attention to detail and the ability to manage shifting priorities.
- A proactive, team-focused leader who drives safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
