The opportunity:

As the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you will work in a full-time permanent role, on a weekly shift rotating roster, at our Visy Board, Hamilton Site. You will work closely with maintenance and production operations teams to lead initiatives in reducing plant downtime by conducting preventative mechanical maintenance activities, immediate breakdown repairs, and providing general fixed-plant mechanical maintenance as required throughout the plant. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Trouble shooting, machine inspections and attending to repairs and breakdowns.
  • Carry out routine checks and planned maintenance to preserve efficiency of machines.
  • Utilize Electronic Maintenance Programs for data collection and analysis of maintenance information.
  • Maintain awareness and commitment to employment and legislative responsibilities in relation to safety, quality and environmental standards.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

What you will bring to the team:

Coming with a minimum of 3 years post-trade experience as a Mechanical Fitter, gained from working in an industrial/manufacturing environment, you’ll have an exceptional ability for fault finding and diagnostics, with the ability to work under urgency and pressure while maintaining high standards. You will be a proactive team player, with a good written and communication skills and processes a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environmental practices. Along with the following:

  • Mechanical Trade qualification level 4 or equivalent.
  • Basic oxy acetylene gas experience as a minimum together with mig/tig/stick welding skills.
  • Forklift licence and Corrugator machine experience is highly desirable.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. - You will have good attention to detail and an eye for accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work on a shift rotating roster- 2 weeks on days, 1 week on nights!
