Role Details 

As a Technical Specialist, you will be at the forefront of our innovative efforts, leading chemical and continuous improvement trials to enhance the performance and sustainability of our paper products. This includes researching and screening new technologies for the enhancement of existing fibre-based packaging products to ensure competitive advantage by creating value ad and cost-effective solutions.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Specialist key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Design, coordinate, and execute chemical and continuous improvement trials within the manufacturing process to evaluate new materials, additives, and production techniques.
  • Analyze trial results to optimize paper performance, cost, quality, and efficiency while ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Laboratory teams, chemical and machine suppliers to improve existing formulations in response to operational requirements.
  • Responsible for analysis of data required for initiatives for improved quality and profitability
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all trials, including reporting data, findings, and recommendations.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, advancements in paper chemistry, and sustainability practices to drive innovation.
  • Closely collaborate with VPP Engineering & Technology team to manage research and feasibility studies for Visy Pulp & Paper

 

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Applied Chemistry or Paper Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the paper manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of paper chemistry and raw materials.
  • Proven experience in planning and conducting chemical & continuous improvement trials in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve complex problems, and implement practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations in the manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with safe food packaging regulations.
