We’re looking for a hands-on, improvement-focused Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance function at our high-volume plastics manufacturing site in Moorabbin — with the potential to expand across Clayton and Springvale sites for the right candidate.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead a team of 7 (5 Mechanical Fitters, 2 Electricians) across a complex site with 25 production lines. This is a critical leadership role where you’ll be instrumental in shaping the maintenance strategy and driving performance, reliability, and safety across the site — or potentially across the broader Victorian footprint.
Moorabbin is in an active improvement phase, making this a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on building structure, embedding preventative maintenance programs, and influencing positive cultural and operational change.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance strategies across all plant equipment.
- Coach and support your team to deliver on equipment reliability, uptime, and safety targets.
- Manage plant shutdowns, machine upgrades, and major repair projects.
- Build lean, efficient workflows aligned to CI and lean manufacturing principles.
- Drive improvements in CMMS usage, maintenance KPIs, and documentation control.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to drive performance.
- Maintain strong cost control over parts, labour, and contractors.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Trade qualification in mechanical or electrical discipline (required); Engineering degree (preferred).
- 5+ years’ experience in maintenance leadership within manufacturing, packaging or FMCG.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead and develop maintenance teams.
- Experience working with CMMS and driving improvements in maintenance systems.
- Strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational risk management.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a management team that’s hungry to improve.
