The Opportunity
We have a rare opportunity for a Plant Manager to lead Visy’s rPlastics facility in Somerton. As a recent addition to the Visy network, the site is undergoing significant improvements—including a major washline upgrade and site standard uplift—making this a high-impact leadership role.
Reporting to the Head of Operations – rPlastics, you’ll be accountable for the full scope of plant operations including production, safety, quality, team capability, and site projects. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team, with a clear focus on improving plant reliability, embedding performance disciplines, and delivering key strategic upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all site operations to meet safety, quality, production and cost targets.
- Build and maintain a strong safety culture and ensure environmental compliance.
- Oversee production and reliability with a focus on waste reduction and yield.
- Deliver critical site improvement initiatives including a new washline installation.
- Drive employee development and ensure clarity in leadership and accountability.
- Lead the implementation of Lean tools to embed continuous improvement.
- Manage operating and capital budgets aligned with site priorities.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and lead engagement with local authorities.
What You Will Bring to the Team
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in manufacturing, recycling, or industrial plant operations.
- Proven track record in leading site upgrades, technical improvement or turnarounds.
- Strong people leadership with a focus on developing culture and team capability.
- Deep understanding of plant reliability, safety systems, and operational compliance.
- Lean Six Sigma certification; HACCP or ISO audit experience desirable.
