The Opportunity
Visy is a global leader in packaging, paper, and resource recovery solutions. Our Food Can Division is seeking a Project Engineer to manage engineering initiatives, deliver technical solutions, and support the introduction of new products and continuous improvement projects across multiple sites.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will ensure the successful execution of projects while maintaining compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support engineering and continuous improvement projects from concept to completion.
- Assist in major capital expenditure projects, ensuring scope, budget, and timelines are met.
- Develop and update plant layouts and product drawings to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with technical and plant teams to conduct trials for new and modified products.
- Drive process improvements, including material changes and equipment upgrades.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement risk reduction measures for engineering activities.
- Maintain and update engineering documentation to ensure compliance with Visy and industry standards.
What You Will Bring to the Team
- Experience in project management, engineering design, and drafting (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and cost control strategies is advantageous.
- Effective communication skills to engage internal and external stakeholders.
Certifications & Licences
- Desirable: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Desirable: Project management qualifications (PRINCE2, PMP) and safety management certification.
