Role details
Reporting to the Energy Manager and based at our Co-gen plant on Gibson Island, you will assist in facilitating a safe, reliable, and low-cost steam supply for the paper-making process. You will be responsible for coordinating maintenance and reliability tasks, conducting efficiency assessments, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance the operational effectiveness of our plant.
What you will do
- Perform field audits/checks and work closely with operation staff to ensure Fuel, Steam and Energy systems are operating safely, reliability and efficiently.
- Ensure inventory levels are maintained and engage suppliers as deliveries / removals are needed.
- Provide boiler, energy, fuel and steam system technical support to the site, including participating in the 24/7 on call roster.
- Participate in regular maintenance activities and troubleshoot issues to ensure continuous plant operation.
- Identify reliability improvement, energy efficiency and cost control projects for implementation and other continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost and use of fuel, energy and steam.
- Adhere to safe working and environmental procedures in accordance with the policies and procedures at all times.
This plant operates on a 24/7-day basis, and you will need to be flexible to work additional hours as required, including being on our call-out roster.
What you will bring
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/chemical/ Process Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-3 years’ experience onsite in an industrial/heavy industry or operations role
- High level communication skills and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative, flexible and team focused with a continuous improvement mindset
- Highly organised and strong planning skills.
