Based in Bowen, Queensland, our Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for
- assisting in the configuration and installation of new machinery and
- providing mechanical maintenance support and ensure operational facilities and machinery function to their maximum efficiency with minimal disruption in output, both onsite and for our clients.

The Opportunity:
You will be responsible for a variety of plant and equipment including box and carton machines used by the growers and suppliers involved in the local primary industry.
The Role
- Implement and oversee modifications to plant equipment to enhance performance and reliability.
- Install, assemble, repair and service machines. Working on glue lines, roll-overs, conveyors, cylinders, belts, and other components. Change out parts, replacing bearings and other key components.
- Test all mechanical parts after being repaired to ensure repairs are adequately completed
- Management of supplies and spare parts, managing inventory, planning for preventative maintenance, and quickly responding to breakdowns.
- Assisting to formulate action plans and driving continuous improvement with systems to ensure they are efficient, transparent and deliver required results.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Ensure appropriate compliance audits are conducted and issues arising to be rectified in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Monitoring all outgoing material to ensure quality standards and safety compliance.
- Work closely with engineering teams to understand equipment needs and provide technical support.
- Provide detailed reports to management as required.
What you will bring to the position:
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering Mechatronics, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience working with manufacturing machines and modification of components in similar environment
- Good sense of safety, analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in diagnostics and troubleshooting equipment and ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills with a positive a proactive approach to work.
This is a permanent, full-time 38 hours pw role. Additional hours and some weekend work will be required during busy periods.
You will be required to meet Visy's employment criteria which will include a criminal history check and pre-employment medical (including drug & alcohol testing).
