About the role

Based in regional NSW Tumut, we are searching for an experienced, hands-on Continuous Improvement Engineer to consistently improve the functioning and overall efficiency of all electrical, instrument and control systems/equipment for all areas of the operation.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer (EIC), you will possess drive and determination, have exceptional organisational and time keeping skills with a logical/calm approach to work on continuous improvement projects.

Duties

Your day to day includes but not limited to:

  • Initiate and drive a safe workplace including ensuring you and your team follow safety policies and regulations and consult with HSE representatives with any workplace changes
  • Manage the auditing of installed equipment to ensure that all spare parts, software, firmware, backups, documentation, procedures and maintenance schedules required are in place and in good working order
  • Ensure disciplined focus on diagnostic (predictive) and preventative maintenance of EIC equipment, and ensure that a reactive, corrective maintenance environment does not develop
  • Ensure the planning and organising of resources/ raw materials/ spare parts/ supplies for jobs and scheduled maintenance
  • Conduct RCA investigations on all significant equipment failures
  • Ensure all spare parts required to maintain equipment functionality are identified and added to stores inventory.
  • Keep updated on latest technology and advancements in the industry
  • Engage the team to contribute to growing the continuous improvement culture
  • Implement asset management system improvements to optimise workflow, equipment reliability and repairable inventory management
  • Assist in the provision of on-the-job training and coaching

What you will bring to the team

Your experience and technical knowledge include:

  • Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience within industrial maintenance in a continuous process environment (preferably within the Paper, Aluminium, Steel, Mining, FMCG, Heavy industries)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in ElC control systems fields
  • Tech savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, CMMS or ERP systems (advantageous)
  • Control Systems (PLC) experience (ABB & Rockwell preferable)
  • AC variable speed drive knowledge and experience (Rockwell/ABB preferable)

  • Superior communication coupled with strong analytical skills, a high level of initiative and the ability to work autonomously
  • This plant operates on a 24/7-day basis and you will need to be flexible to work additional hours as required including being on our call out roster.
