The opportunity:
Visy Glass is Australia and New Zealand's largest manufacturer of recycled glass bottles and jars consisting of 5 plants across Australia and New Zealand.
As an operator, you will learn all aspects of batch and furnace operations and play a vital role within our business, ensuring safe and efficient operation of processes.
You will work a rotating shift roster over 7 days - 5-week rotating shift roster (day, afternoon & nights) 8 hr shifts, RDO’s between shift changes, 1-week paid leave at end of shift rotation.
South Brisbane location, relocating to new state of the art facility in Yatala at the end of 2025.
Reporting to the Assistant Batch & Furnace Manager, key responsibilities include, but not be limited to:
- Adhere to all Work, Health & Environment policies, and procedures.
- Measure, assemble, and mix the glass raw material recipe, ensuring correction proportions.
- Furnace operation - monitor the furnace temperature and colour and glass compensation.
- Perform basic glass quality testing such as seed and blister counts, colour check, etc.
- Mobile plant operation – front end loader, counterbalance forklift, hoist.
- Attend to breakdowns, trouble shoot and fix minor repairs throughout the batch and furnace department.
- Work closely with the production department on issues that may affect them.
- General maintenance & cleaning of plant & equipment.
What you will bring to the team:
- Previous experience working in batch or furnace operations would be beneficial, alternatively, prior machine operator experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical trade certificate an advantage or a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Previous experience operating a front-end loader, counterbalance forklift.
- LF forklift licence.
- Strong communication, commitment to safety & quality, and be physically fit and healthy.
