The opportunity:
Charta Packaging Limited specialise in manufacturing high quality corrugated cardboard packaging and premium printing. Charta Packaging is a division of Visy, who are a global leader in sustainable packaging and resource recovery. Based in modern premises in East Tamaki, Highbrook, Charta has some of the latest state of the art machinery, unique to New Zealand.
We are currently looking for a Machine Maintenance Engineer to join our team based in Highbrook, Auckland. This is a permanent position working a 47.5 ordinary hours per week, 6am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager your main responsibilities will be to perform mechanical activities to repair and refurbish all factory machinery and services on shift.
As a machine maintenance engineer, you will be required to demonstrate your problem-solving skills as well as your ability to implement and lead engineering processes. You will organise and assist preventative maintenance programs, set downtime KPI reporting and maintain the repairs and maintenance budget, while working closely with maintenance staff, production, and management to improve machine performance. Health and safety will play a crucial part of your role and you will follow and manage all company Health Safety and environmental standards, report all HS&E breaches and complete team toolbox talks.
What you will bring to the team:
As our new maintenance Engineer, you will hold either Mechanical Trade Certificate (highly desirable) or a relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, you will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in machine maintenance (post trade qualification) and have the ability to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment.
You’ll be familiar with working in a manufacturing environment (medium or a heavy industrial environment experience will be highly regarded) and you’ll have an exceptional ability for fault finding and diagnostics, with a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environmental practices. You will be a team player who can demonstrate leadership skills, with proficient written and communication skills.
