About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our Visy Logistics Construction division in Rooty Hill. In this fast‑paced newly created role, you’ll manage daily freight allocation across company and third‑party carriers, ensuring high utilisation, strong customer service, and efficient operational performance. You’ll coordinate freight movements, optimise load planning, and work closely with internal teams and external customers while building strong relationships across our carrier network. This role is ideal for someone with exceptional operational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities and customer expectations in a demanding environment.
What you’ll do:
As a Transport Planner, your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and allocating daily freight movements across metro and regional areas.
- Working closely with Fleet and Operations teams to maximise asset utilisation.
- Planning loads efficiently to optimise capacity and reduce empty running.
- Scheduling transport and assigning work to the right carriers or Visy fleet.
- Maintain accuracy in our TMS, updating orders, rates, and shipment details.
- Communicating with customers and carriers to provide updates, resolve delays, and manage expectations.
- Reviewing daily rates and ensuring all jobs are rated correctly for invoicing.
- Maintaining compliance with fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility, and other legislative requirements.
What You Will Bring:
- Prior experience in a Transport Planner/Allocator role within the Transport & Logistics industry
- Sound knowledge and understanding of OH&S, CoR & NHVR legislation
- Experience with SAP, MT DATA & TMS
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced and challenging environment
- A continuous improvement mindset with good change management experience
- Ability to build strong relationships internal and externally
