The opportunity:
As a Section Leader, you will work in a full-time permanent role, on a rolling shift pattern, over 4 days on and 4 days off, at our Visy Glass, Penrose, site. Reporting to the Shift Manager, you’ll be hands-on in building capability, and be responsible for the effective utilisation and co-ordination of the machinery under your control. In this role you will work in the cold end of the Plant, utilising your production knowledge, to support a dedicated production team, driving safety, efficiency, and quality while supporting ongoing improvement initiatives. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Operating various machines such as inspection equipment, conveyor systems and palletisers.
- Supervising the production team in your assigned section.
- Dealing with production issues and escalating as required.
- Lead by example to embed and maintain a strong safety-first culture.
- Ensure the quality of the glass packaging produced meets the specifications required of Visy Glass.

What you will bring to the team:
As our Section Leader, you will machine operation experience, gained within a glass packaging manufacturing environment. You’ll have an exceptional ability for quality control and defect analysis, with an ability to work under urgency and pressure while maintaining high standards. You will have excellent written and communication skills and processes a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environmental practices. Along with the following:
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating roster – 2 days/2 nights, 4 days off!
- Quality control and defect analysis- You will have good attention to detail and an eye for accuracy.
- Strong understanding of HSE, quality, and productivity systems.
- A hands-on, solutions-focused leadership style.
- Proven ability to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment.
