The opportunity:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Maintenance Fitter to join our team at Visy Glass, Penrose, Auckland. This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday 7am to 3.30pm with opportunities for overtime. Our factory is a fast-paced environment running 24/7, where you will be required to work on a call out roster, once every 6 - 8 weeks.
Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager, your main duties will include performing mechanical activities to repair and refurbish machines, utilize SAP for data collection and analysis of maintenance information, mechanical installation during projects and shutdowns, and providing general fixed-plant mechanical maintenance as required throughout the plant. This is a diverse and varied role where you will be working closely with the Maintenance Team and Operators on site to improve machine performance, ensuring minimum downtime in productivity. Other key responsibilities include:
- Trouble shooting, machine inspections and attending to repairs and breakdowns with a focus to support sheet metal and fabrication work.
- Carry out routine checks and planned maintenance to preserve efficiency of machines.
- Attend to job changes and the setup of the inspection machine.
- Maintain awareness and commitment to employment and legislative responsibilities in relation to safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Ad hoc duties as required.
What you will bring to the team:
As our new Plant Maintenance Fitter, you will a minimum of 4 years post trade experience as a Mechanical Fitter, working within an industrial/manufacturing environment. You’ll have an exceptional ability for fault finding and diagnostics, with the ability to work under urgency and pressure while maintaining high standards. You will be a proactive team player, with a good written and communication skills and processes a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environmental practices. Along with the following:
- Mechanical Trade qualification.
- Welding and fabrication knowledge.
- Ability to work on a call out roster, once every 6 - 8 weeks
- Analytical and problem-solving skills. - You will have good attention to detail and an eye for accuracy.
- Proven ability to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment.
