Amazing opportunity for an experienced Assistant Batch & Furnace Manager to join our primary packaging division at a highly significant and progressive time.
Assist us to map out a path of relocating our current glass manufacturing operations from South Brisbane to Yatala. Your valued expertise & solid contribution will play an integral role in the overall design & construction of Visy’s new glass facility.
Reporting to the Batch & Furnace Manager, you will be accountable for managing furnace and batch house operations, ensuring optimisation of processes, safety & environmental standards are met, and glass quality is first class.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Communicates and directs the application of prescribed safety and environmental regulations are carried out, whilst endeavouring to improve operating procedures
Ensure glass composition is tailored and optimised to meet Forming requirements
Ensure glass quality meets customer specification and ACI Quality Standards
Ensure all Batch & Furnace equipment operates efficiently and is well maintained
Ensure furnaces are maintained to achieve maximum furnace life
Manage fuel consumption and implement control measures to meet budget requirements and glass quality standards
Manage colour changes to ensure there is no adverse downtime
Ensure energy usage is optimised and plans are in place to continuously improve energy management
Salaried / Permanent full time
24/7 manufacturing facility - participate in a call out roster when required for added support
What you will bring to the team:
Mandatory:
Engineering Degree - Preferably Chemical or Mechanical
Thorough knowledge and experience managing batch & furnace operations
Oxy fuelled glass container furnace operations experience is paramount
Management of a unionised site
Glass or similar largescale batching understanding
The ability to project manage and get involved in the design and construction of the new plant
Well-developed communication and influencing skills
