This is an outstanding opportunity for an astute and strategic leader to have a tremendous impact in shaping the future state of the Visy Plastics plant.

The role:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager will lead and manage the Maintenance area of the PET manufacturing operation, ensuring a program of preventative maintenance is established, maintained and updated to maintain a world class facility.

The position will also ensure replacement parts are maintained and resources available, cognisant of budget constraints, so as to keep plant downtime to an absolute minimum whilst also assist with development and delivery of training to all employees, focusing on the greater business requirements.

Additionally, other key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Set, maintain report and continuously improve on Maintenance Performance Measures
  • Manage efficiency, scheduled and unscheduled downtime, stores inventory and R&M budget performance
  • Ensure that all equipment is serviced and maintained according to manufacturers and site standards
  • Develop a team environment, sense of service support, sense of urgency and high standards of professionalism for all maintenance employees. 
  • Initiate, develop and implement systems and procedures to improve operational performance, consulting other key stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure that quality procedures are followed as per ISO 22000.  Maintain the HACCP food safety program meeting company and site expectations.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Proven competency of plastics blow moulding technology and principles
  • Understanding of all licensing requirements relating to the plastics blow moulding operation, including trades-work requiring specific licensing, equipment and standards
  • Relevant Mechanical Trade and Post trade, technical Certificates (including restricted electrical as a minimum)
  • Demonstrated experience of managing a trades team in a continuous processing environment, operating across a 7/24 shift  rotation
  • Demonstrable experience of having implemented a successful planned preventative maintenance strategy
  • Experience of achieving QSE improvements through maintenance activities and production support.
