Visy Glass operates four (4) returnable packaging sort centres – Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney to sort and repair returnable packaging. All pallets, top frames and divider boards are managed within a returnable packaging system. To deliver the quality service and cater for continued growth, we are looking to further strengthen the sort centre operation by recruiting a Sort Centre Manager to be based in each of the four sites. This role in specific is based in Penrith on 170 Andrews Road.
Reporting to Sort Centre National Operations Manager, in this key site role, you will be responsible to plan, lead and manage all business activities and production performance within established safety, quality and cost parameters for your centre. Key responsibilities include but not limited to,
Support the team to achieve performance targets, manage cost on labour hire and responsible for weekly reporting of safety, volume and cost KPI’s
Manage and coordinate routine/breakdown maintenance activities and cleaning plans to ensuring all equipment is brought up to, and maintained, at a high service condition
Drive best practice initiatives and continuous improvement processes at site to ensure adequate returnable packaging is available at all times to meet glass production requirements
Perform internal daily audits of stock, provide training to staff and provide assistance to ensure quality of returnable packaging meets specifications by manufacturing team
This is a full time position working Monday to Friday, though some afterhours/weekend/Public Holiday work may be required on occasion.
What you will bring to the team:
While no day in manufacturing is ever the same, this is a prefect role for someone with demonstrated strong problem solving skills, adaptable to an evolving and changing work environment, ideally from a high-volume, fast paced manufacturing or logistic industries.
You'll have excellent communication skills and are able to lead by example with an eye for details on any anomalies of safety, production and quality. Experience working in continuous improvement environment will be desirable.
You are passionate about the health and safety of all employees, contractors and site visitors with a strong ability to interact and build rapport with both internal and external customers at all levels.
