We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter / Toolmaker to join Visy Glass at our operation in South Brisbane on an initial 6 month fixed term contract. Working in the Mould Shop and reporting to the Mould Shop Manager, you will be responsible for repairing Glass Container moulding equipment to ensure Glass quality.
Responsibilities include:
A variety of bench fitting duties such as filing, welding, hand grinding and polishing as well as milling and lathe repairs on a number of interchangeable part for glass moulding machinery.
Work with a variety of hand tools, gauges and occasionally operating a CNC lath to machine glass bottle moulds as required.
You will also assist with job change activities in the plant.
This will be an initial 6 month contract with a view to extend or turn permanent
What you will bring to the team:
You will have a fitter/machinist/tool maker trade qualification and experience in bench fitting duties like grinding and polishing as well as milling and lathe operations in an industrial environment, preferably an Engineering or Toolmaking workshop.
You will hold safety and quality above all else, have sound written and verbal communication, be a strong team player and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Most importantly, you will hold the safety of yourself and your team above all else.
