There is an exciting opportunity for a skilled mechanical fitter to join Visy Glass Auckland operation located at Great South Road, Penrose on a permanent, full time basis. Reporting to the IS Repair Manager, your duties will include performing job changes and conversions, repair and refurbish machines, utilise SAP for data collection and analysis of maintenance information, mechanical installation during projects and shutdowns and complete planned and unplanned maintenance as directed. These activities will be carried out in a timely manner utilising the down time with minimum impact on costs and productivity.
This is a diverse and varied role where you will be working closely with the Maintenance Team, responsibilities of the role will include but will not be limited to:
trouble shooting, fault finding, machine inspections and attending to repairs and breakdowns to ensure the set-up and repair of machines to the requirement of production standards for the machines to run to its optimal speed and producing good quality ware.
maintain a high presence in the continuous improvement process through the cross functional teams to drive job change time down whilst maximising the outage opportunity.
ensure that all preventative maintenance is carried out as per planned schedule.
work unsupervised and to pay attention to detail when assigned a task.
maintain awareness and commitment to employment and legislative responsibilities in relation to safety, quality and the environment
This role works 40 hours per week with majority of time on day time. Given that the plant is a 24 / 7 operation, you may be required to attend the workplace on weekends and evenings if there an issue that needs your attention. You may be required for a call out roster which is on for a week every six weeks.
What you will bring to the team:
As our new maintenance fitter, you will have a Mechanical trade qualification, with demonstrated technical experience in general engineering maintenance. You’ll be familiar with working in a manufacturing environment (medium or a heavy industrial environment experience will be highly regarded). You’ll have an exceptional ability for fault finding and diagnostics, able to read and mark up engineering drawings, have strong written and verbal communication and value the safety of yourself and others above all else.
Ideally you will also have experience in SAP, Lean Manufacturing and rebuild but this is not mandatory. You will be comfortable working under tight time constraints and in a hot environment, also able to collaborate confidently and effectively within the team.
