The opportunity:
Visy has been operating for over 70 years, with a range of products that have been developed to provide boxes and protective packaging for just about any item.
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager you will be responsible for helping drive the site health and safety function by engaging all workers on site to take a proactive approach to their safety, coordinating mandatory training leading the emergency response team and assisting with ongoing compliance and accreditation of the HSE system.
You will be a passionate and collaborative SME dedicated to ensuring hazard identification, reduction and elimination of risks and ensuring insightful reporting.
The key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Following up on safety incidents/complaints, carrying out thorough investigations and implementing corrective actions, ensuring data integrity and consistency in reporting per case
Optimising document control of the HSE systems
Conducting regular site audits/ inspections for the general site to ensure compliance of regulatory requirements and accreditation of the HSE system
Work closely with site operations to ensure compliance to safety requirements both legislative and Visy standards, and minimise and/eliminate risk
Keep up to date with latest developments around safety standards and participate in improvement projects to drive best practice
Adhering to all safety and environmental policies and procedures
What you will bring to the team:
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or related
Knowledge and application of HSE management systems, ISO standards and environmental legislations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and effectively manage conflict
Proactive, continuous improvement mindset focussed on efficiencies and a solutions-oriented approach
Excellent time management, with the ability to prioritise and deliver in a fast paced environment
