About the role

The Production Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective operation and monitoring of plant and equipment within the Pulp Mill including, specifically the Chemical Recovery Unit.  

Production Engineers are expected to maximise the efficiency of the plant and equipment and ensure it is operated within set standards and parameters.  Part of the role involves contributing to the ongoing development of standard operating procedures and work instructions, assisting the on-the-job training of other Production Engineers. 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Apply understanding of Paper Manufacturing
• Correctly start up, operate and shut down the plant and equipment
• Carry out in-process inspection using the DCS and in-field inspections
• Record operational activities
• Isolate and de-isolate plant and equipment for maintenance requirements

• Carry out all duties in a safe manner and adhering to site policy and procedures

• Identifying ways to improve the site’s environmental performance
• Adhere to regulatory and site conditions as defined in policy and guidelines

Continuous Improvement
• Communicate any major production opportunities
• Analyse data and troubleshoot complex systems problems
• Engage the team to contribute to the continuous improvement culture of the business
• Facilitate problem solving activities including modifications

• Identify process control maintenance requirements
• Drive production and quality management, reporting and analysis.
• Review production performance against targets

Skills & Experience

Chemical engineering qualification 

•  Minimum 5 years experience as an engineering operator in a Pulp Mill
